First Carrefour Hypermarket Now Open In Fujairah (17 December 2011)
Sixteenth Carrefour Hypermarket to open in the UAE
Shoppers in Fujairah can now choose from thousands of grocery items under one roof with the opening of the first Carrefour Hypermarket in Century Mall Fujairah.
The world’s second largest retailer, operated in the region through a joint venture with Majid Al Futtaim Group, opened its new store on 15 December. The Fujairah opening takes the brand’s Hypermarket tally in the UAE to 16, and to 41 in the Middle East. The new store stocks thousands of items including a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, electronics and homeware items, and has a delicatessen, butchery and fishmongers.
Henry Changeux, GCC Country Head of Carrefour says the new store has been welcomed by local residents, and will provide a boost for the economy in the surrounding area. “The UAE continues to be a key growth area for Carrefour and we are delighted that the opportunity has arisen for us to open our first Carrefour Hypermarket in the Emirate of Fujairah.
“This opening also marks a second key milestone in Carrefour’s history, as we have been able to develop our internationally-renowned brand to have a presence in all seven emirates in the UAE.”
The Carrefour Hypermarket at Century Mall Fujairah echoes the model of Carrefour Hypermarkets across the Middle East and focuses on quality, variety and value-for-money. Additional services include home delivery, shopping carts designed specially for children and a resting area for customers.
Recognized as one of the most active shopping concept developers in the region, the Majid Al Futtaim group first introduced the Carrefour model to the Middle East in 1995.
